How it works
The countdown compares the target moment to your device's clock, in your local timezone, and refreshes every second. If you pick a preset holiday that has already passed this year, it automatically targets next year's date.
Note the countdown is timezone-local: 'days until Christmas' can differ by a day depending on where in the world you're counting from.

How many days until Christmas?
Use the Christmas preset — the tool counts the exact days, hours, and minutes from right now to December 25 at midnight in your local timezone.
Are these calendar days or business days?
Calendar days — every day counts, including weekends and holidays. A business-day count would exclude Saturdays, Sundays, and any holidays you observe.
What happens if I pick a past date?
The tool flips to showing elapsed time since that moment instead of a countdown.
