Currency Converter
Convert between major world currencies using exchange rates fetched fresh from a public rate feed each time you load this page.
How to use this tool
- Enter the amount to convert.
- Choose the currency you're converting from and to.
- Read the result and the current rate in both directions — use the swap button to flip them.
How it works
Rates are fetched from frankfurter.dev, a free service that republishes the European Central Bank's daily reference rates. Conversion goes through a base rate: your amount is divided by the from-currency's rate and multiplied by the to-currency's rate.
Reference rates are informational. Banks, card networks, and payment processors add margins and fees, so the rate you actually get when moving money will usually differ.
Frequently asked questions
How current are the exchange rates?
The tool shows the date of the rates it fetched, which come from the European Central Bank's daily reference rates (updated on business days). If the live feed is unreachable, a clearly labeled fallback snapshot is used.
Why is the rate different from my bank's rate?
Reference rates are mid-market rates. Banks and card networks apply a spread (typically 1–4%) plus possible fees, so the rate you're charged is usually somewhat worse than the reference rate.
Why do exchange rates change?
Currencies trade continuously on global markets, and rates move with interest rates, inflation, trade flows, and market sentiment. Daily reference rates capture one snapshot of that movement.
