Study Timer
A Pomodoro-style focus timer: custom work and break lengths, automatic long breaks, a chime, and a session count — all in your browser.
How to use this tool
- Set your work and break lengths (25/5 is the classic Pomodoro split) and press Start.
- Work until the chime; take the break when it switches automatically.
- Every fourth work session earns a long break. The session counter tracks your day.
How it works
The Pomodoro technique alternates fixed sprints of focused work with short breaks — the timer removes the decision of when to stop, and the break protects you from burning out attention. The tab title shows the countdown, so you can see time remaining from any other tab. The timer runs only while the page is open; there's no account or background service, by design.
Frequently asked questions
Why 25 minutes?
It's the classic Pomodoro length — long enough for real progress, short enough that starting doesn't feel daunting. It's convention rather than magic: adjust to what your focus sustains.
Will the timer keep running if I switch tabs?
Yes — switch freely, and the countdown shows in this tab's title. Closing the tab ends the timer, since nothing runs on a server.
What's the long break for?
After four work sessions, a longer 15–30 minute break helps consolidate and reset. The timer switches to it automatically on the fourth cycle.
